1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, email address, and phone number when you create an account or complete the authorization form.
  • Property address, county, and zip code when you search for an assessment estimate.
  • Your electronic signature and relationship to the property on the authorization form.
  • Payment information (credit/debit card details). Note: card numbers are processed and stored exclusively by Stripe, Inc. — they never touch our servers.

  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies used to maintain your login session and improve site performance.
  • Device identifiers when you access the Site from a mobile device.

Information from third parties:

  • Google OAuth profile (name, email, profile picture) if you sign in with Google.
  • Nassau County public assessment records and comparable sales data sourced from county databases to generate your savings estimate.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and appeals.
  • To prepare and file your property tax grievance with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission (ARC) or other applicable municipalities.
  • To calculate your property's estimated over-assessment and potential savings.
  • To process payments and, where applicable, remit refunds less our contingency fee.
  • To communicate with you about your appeal status, settlement offers, hearing dates, and decisions.
  • To send administrative emails (receipts, confirmations). We do not send unsolicited marketing email without your consent.
  • To improve our website, detect fraud, and comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Nassau County ARC / municipalities: Your name, address, and authorization are submitted on your behalf as required to file a grievance.
  • Stripe, Inc.: Your payment card data is transmitted directly to Stripe for processing under their Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase: We use Supabase (PostgreSQL cloud database) to store your account and appeal data securely. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Service providers: We may share data with vendors who help operate the Site (e.g., hosting, email delivery) under confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FairValue or others.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Appeal records are typically retained for a minimum of seven (7) years to satisfy tax and audit requirements.

You may request deletion of your account by emailing us at support@fairvaluetax.com. Note that we may need to retain certain records even after account deletion as required by law.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and session cookies to identify your browser during a visit. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent some features from working.

6. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including TLS encryption for all data in transit and encrypted storage via Supabase. However, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

7. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
